1 day, 16 hours, 26 minutes, and 3 seconds until we leave for our trip to Louisiana.
I cannot believe its almost time to begin this journey.
Five of us from the Grove Community Church will be living in Covington Louisiana and working at a day camp with Upward community Services for 6 weeks.
The first week (May 24-31) will be full of orientation, camp training, and just getting used to our new home.
Weeks two through five (June 1-27) will be spent counseling at the Kids Camp Mon-Fri from about 8am-4pm each day. The kids range from 5-13 years old and each of us will be in charge of a small group of them, along with a co-leader from Faith Bible. Weeknights will be spent in a variety of ways, mostly revolving around building relationships with the community. Saturdays will be a Sabbath day for rest, time with God, reading, exploring the community, reflecting on the past week, communication with friends and family at home, etc. Sundays will be spent at church, both attending and volunteering in whatever ways are needed, and the afternoons will include more time in the community, with neighbors, or church friends, deepening relationships and growing together.
the final week (June 28-July 5) We will be joined by the high school team from the Grove. We might stay at the camp or do some rebuilding projects around the community. We will all head home together on July 5th.
So as we are getting ready to leave these are some of the ways you can be praying for us.
- safe travels
- team unity
- heart preparation for each of us
- calmness for our team (i am freaking out right now from excitement/nerves)
- peace for our families back at home (i know my mom is going to miss her little bundle of joy)

I am excited! Looking forward to your posts, but don't let the blog drive your trip.
I am with you all in spirit! I pray the results of this experiment will be groundbreaking, not only for your own lives, but for all of those with whom you connect. Listen closely...I know HE has something to tell you...
